html code for myspace profile

i'm trying to setup a banner headline hyperlink to another web site. i've copied code posted on that web site that's supposed to work, but it will not work with my front page 2002 installation. i started a new web page, then pasted the copied code between the two lines in the html code for that page. however, that does not result in the graphic for the banner headline appearing in the normal view or even the preview display for that web page, even after i save it to disk. according to the web master, the code works fine in dream weaver, but she acknowledges awareness of problems with that code under front page. nevertheless, for the moment she can offer no solution to the problem. here's the code exactly as copied from the other web site:

after successfully adding cgi/perl doctype to code coloring files i have lost code coloring on some html tags such as the form tag, table tag, and image tag. in particular, they are now all colored the same color. now all that is displayed in my html and php ( i haven't checked any others ) syntax coloring previews on the code coloring edit menu is "html tags" instead of "html anchor tag", "html form tag", "html table tag", etc. i installed dreamweaver mx 2004 on a virtual machine, temporarily, and compared the code coloring files ( colors.xml and codecoloring.xml ) between the two installations and they are nearly identical except for the newly added cgi/perl doctype. i noticed that ever since i added the new doctype to mmdocumenttypes.xml, that in colors.xml, new "colgroup" tags with "doctype" attributes have been added also. i tried placing the following tags directly in the newly created html and php colgroups with no success:

---end code--- the problem is of course that the code inserted, and used in the html code in the end result is : the attribute value /images/1.gif for the scr attribute isn't enclosed in single or double quotation marks as it should be, and this results in the code not being validated as proper html. :-/ i have tried enclosing it in quotation marks both this and that way, but it doesn't work..... and it's driving me nuts. :-( -- torbjørn pettersen editor/webmaster fantafiction www.fantafiction.com

everyone on our team is using fp 2002, sp-2. a teammate edited the html code for a web site and cleaned it up. she emailed us indicated she just made the changes. i went to our web site and (using ws_ftp pro) i copied the page to my hard drive. i opened the page with fp and looked at the html code. there were 2 or 3 lines between each line of code and virtually all of the code was left justified. (basically, all of the formatting she did was lost.) when i go to tools > page options, indent is set to 2 spaces and the right margin is set to 80 characters. i will appreciate any other suggestions. regards.
